A recent survey by Travelex revealed that nearly 75 per cent of British travellers are unaware that Cyprus and Malta are due to adopt the Euro on January 1, 2008. Britons are the major visitors to both countries (57% of travellers to Cyprus and 38% to Malta), and the upcoming currency change will affect hundreds of thousands of UK tourists. Travel specialists are urging anyone who has recently returned from these destinations and has any leftover local currency to use up or exchange their money before it becomes redundant.
Currently, all prices in the two Mediterranean island nations are stated both in local currency and euros to ensure a smooth switch to the European currency next year.

There are similar trends in other top destinations including France, Slovenia, and Andorra.

UK one-bag rule to be lifted, airport security to be toughened
The British Government confirmed that is to reverse the decision to restrict airline hand luggage to just one item. From January 2008 passengers will be allowed to take more than a single item of carry-on luggage into the cabin. However, current restrictions on carrying liquids through airport security will remain.
Meanwhile, improved security is to be introduced at UK airports, railway stations and ports as part of wider anti-terrorism measures outlined by Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Security will be stepped up at the busiest hubs, with guidance going out to hotels, restaurants, sports arenas, cinemas and theatres.

Boeing receives the largest 787 Dreamliner order for Latin America
The Boeing Company announced Monday that Chile's LAN Airlines has ordered 32 Dreamliners, marking the largest 787 acquisition to date for Latin America. The press-release informs that the Santiago-based LAN will buy 26 Dreamliners worth $4.5 billion (£2.2 billion), and will lease an additional six from International Lease Finance Corp.
So far, two other Latin American airlines have committed to the Boeing’s Dreamliner – Aeromexico, with two purchased and three leased, and Columbia’s Avianca, which has ordered 10.
Boeing said last month it would delay the launch of its first 787 Dreamliner by six months to late 2008 because of assembly problems. Thus far, Boeing has received a total of 736 orders for the new aircraft from 51 airlines worldwide.
