Singapore Airlines said Thursday it plans to temporarily redeploy an Airbus A380 superjumbo, the world's biggest passenger jet, between Singapore and Beijing during the lead-up to the commencement of the Olympic Games.
The airline said it would deploy one A380 currently on the London-Singapore service to the Chinese capital from July 31 to August 9.
The airline has flown one superjumbo to London since March 18 and said it would add an additional A380 flight on that route from July 16 after it takes delivery of its fifth aircraft in late June.
Singapore Airlines was the world’s first airline to receive the A380 in October last year and is currently still the only airline in the world flying the aircraft.
